(LOWVILLE, N.Y.) – Cedars Golf Course will host the 6th Annual Volunteer Transportation Center Jefferson-Lewis Golf Tournament to benefit the Volunteer Transportation Center, Inc. (VTC). The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at the course, located at 9368 East Road, Lowville.

“We’re excited to once again partner with J.R. Chamberlain and his great crew over at Cedars,” said Jeremiah S. Papineau, the nonprofit organization’s Director of Communications and Foundation Director. “Last year, we had one of our best years for this tournament, maxing out the number of teams that could play. We had a great turnout and we’re looking to build upon that success again this year.”

The Volunteer Transportation Center Jefferson-Lewis Golf Tournament will again follow a captain and crew format, beginning with registration at 8 a.m. and with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Registration will remain at $300 per team, which includes a cart, dinner and tournament shirt. Skins and super skins may be purchased at registration. Raffles and a 50-50 drawing will also round out the event. Only the first 36 teams to register can be included. The deadline for entries is Friday, Sept. 3.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the VTC will follow New York State mandates and adhere to CDC guidelines, including providing face coverings for use when social distancing is not possible. Hand sanitizer will also be provided. As guidance from the state and the CDC is ever-changing during these uncertain times, the VTC will also follow any other protocols put in place as well as that implemented by Cedars Golf Course.

The tournament will take place regardless of weather, so no rain date or refunds will be offered. However, if this event is canceled due to restrictions put in place over COVID-19, refunds will be offered.

This year’s event is underwritten by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Watertown Savings Bank, Stewart’s Shops/The Dake Family Foundation, the Glenn & Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation, and the Pratt Northam Foundationwith Eagle Level sponsorship from Benefit Services Group. Monetary and in-kind donation sponsors are still being sought.
