Transportation Specialist (Driver)

The Transportation Specialist is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient passenger transport to and from appointments, primarily within the local city limits. This role requires strict adherence to all traffic laws, proactive route planning, and the diligent upkeep of Agency vehicles. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, possess excellent communication and computer skills, and is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the organization’s core mission.

General Responsibilities

  • Transport clients safely and reliably to and from scheduled appointments, ensuring a cost-effective approach to route planning.
  • Keep all VTC-owned vehicles clean, fully fueled, and assist with maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule. Promptly notify the supervisor of any mechanical or maintenance issues.
  • Check the daily schedule for newly assigned trips, maintain daily vehicle schedules, and accurately update changes, cancellations, and kick-backs.
  • Contact clients the afternoon prior to their scheduled appointments to verify trip times, pickup locations, and details.
  • Maintain daily, clear communication with the office Transportation Coordinators and administrative staff.
  • Assist with Agency wheelchair transports.
  • Participate reliably in the weekly on-call rotation and flex scheduled work hours as operationally required.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Agency’s Mission Statement and actively carry it out in all daily interactions and tasks.
  • Perform alternative tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must possess a valid, clean driver’s license.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer proficiency to navigate scheduling software and digital logs.
  • High level of precision in managing schedules, verifying client data, and tracking vehicle logs.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining a strong willingness to help team members and accept support when needed.
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods, and assist passengers in and out of vehicles as required.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $17.00-$20.00/hour
