(LOWVILLE, N.Y.) – Cedars Golf Course will host the 7th Annual Volunteer Transportation Center Jefferson-Lewis Golf Tournament to benefit the Volunteer Transportation Center Foundation. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at the course, located at 9368 East Road, Lowville.
“Once again, we’re excited to partner with J.R. Chamberlain and the awesome crew over at Cedars,” said Jeremiah S. Papineau, the nonprofit organization’s Director of Communications and Foundation Director. “We had an amazing tournament last year, maxing out on teams. It was a great event and raised nearly $10,000, which is huge for the services the VTC provides.”
The Volunteer Transportation Center Jefferson-Lewis Golf Tournament will again follow a captain and crew format, beginning with registration at 8 a.m. and with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Registration will remain at $300 per team, which includes a cart, dinner and tournament shirt. Skins and super skins may be purchased at registration. Raffles and a 50-50 drawing will also round out the event. Only the first 36 teams to register can be included.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the VTC Foundation will follow New York State mandates and adhere to CDC guidelines in place at the time of the event, if any. In addition, protocols implemented by Cedars Golf Course, if any, will also be followed.
The tournament will take place regardless of weather, so no rain date or refunds will be offered. However, if this event is canceled due to restrictions put in place over COVID-19, refunds will be offered.
This event is underwritten by Excellus BlueCross Blue Shield, Watertown Savings Bank, Stewart’s Shops, and the Glenn & Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation, with Eagle Level sponsorship from the Kinney Drugs Foundation and Benefit Services Group. Monetary and in-kind donation sponsors are still being sought.
Those interested in playing, becoming a sponsor or donating items for raffles at the tournament may call 315-303-2590, send an email to foundation@volunteertransportation.org or visit

ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER TRANSPORTATION CENTER
The Volunteer Transportation Center, Inc. (VTC), established in 1991, drives thousands of miles each year assisting community members in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties and beyond. Over the last 30 years, this essential non-profit organization has provided rides to health care appointments, food sources and other critical needs destinations for residents.
In 2021, VTC volunteer drivers provided 26,711 charitable trips over 1,073,435 miles in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties. Of those miles, 470,002 helped those in Jefferson County, 151,954 in Lewis County, and 451,479 in St. Lawrence County. That equated to approximately $477,679 in mileage reimbursement for our volunteers.
The staff, boards of directors and volunteer drivers look forward to a time when transportation to community activities and services is accessible to all North Country residents regardless of economic or specialized needs. But for now the mission drives on — striving to provide transportation to health, wellness and critical needs destinations utilizing volunteers and mobility management for anyone who has barriers to transportation.
